Intimacy is essential in a relationship with the other.

We find it in friendship as in love. We distinguish emotional intimacy from physical intimacy.

Emotional intimacy is that which makes us feel close to certain people, that we share strong feelings for them.

Physical intimacy is the one that makes us want a tactile relationship with the other, although not necessarily sexual: massages, caresses ...
