The Buteyko method is used by people with asthma to breathe easier.

This technique should allow you to fight and manage your asthma and various respiratory problems.

Buteyko Method

The Buteyko method is based on a simple principle which is to decrease your breathing.

Indeed, you should know that too much breathing could be a vector of certain problems.

For Doctor Buteyko, asthma is a defense system to fight against the insufficiency of Co2 in our body.

This is the cause of spasms in the bronchial, intestinal and other smooth muscles.

It takes a certain amount of carbon dioxide for our hemoglobin to function normally.

For Dr. Buteyko, asthma is a respiratory problem that is said to be the result of chronic hyperventilation.

Indeed, a person with asthma has a respiratory rate which is between 5 and liters per minute which is about the double of a person who breathes normally.

Exercise of the Buteyko method?

To start you take your pulse.

You sit in a quiet place with your back straight.

Count your pulse for 15 seconds and then multiply that number by 4.

You then breathe in normally through your nose for 2 seconds and then exhale for 3 seconds.

Then stop breathing by pinching his nose.

Count the time you go without breathing.

This is called the control break and this is used to assess your hyperventilation.

For Dr. Buteyko, a healthy person can take this breathing pause for more than 40 seconds.

Then there is the very shallow breathing.

Always having the back straight, it is necessary to decrease its breathing by relaxing the muscles which are located at the level of the thorax.

Your abdomen should control your breathing.

Do this for about 5 minutes breathing smoothly.

This breathing technique can easily become your new method of breathing in your everyday life.

Go back to a cycle of control breaks.

Do the same as in the second paragraph.

You should thus have a higher result.

To finish this exercise, you have to take your pulse again.

Compare it to the first result.

It should normally be less than the 1st.

Over time, it should continue to slow down.

This breathing method should help reduce your asthma problems.

Several studies and research have shown that it can have beneficial effects for people with asthma.
